Numerology and Baby Names
2 February 2026 · 7 min read
Numerology offers a different lens for choosing a baby name: instead of meaning or sound alone, it looks at the number a name reduces to and what that number traditionally represents. Here is how the system works, how to calculate it yourself, and what each result means.
How name numerology is calculated
The most common method is Pythagorean. Each letter is assigned a value 1–9 (A=1, B=2 … I=9, then J starts again at 1), the values are added up, and the total is reduced to a single digit — unless it lands on a master number (11, 22, 33), which is kept as-is. That final number is the name's vibration.
What each number means
Every number carries a traditional character: 1 the leader, 2 the peacemaker, 3 the communicator, and so on up to the master numbers.
