Privacy Policy

This policy explains how NameMemoir handles your data. We keep data collection to a minimum and never sell it. NameMemoir is operated by Praveen, based in Berlin, Germany.

What we collect

  • Email addresses you voluntarily submit — for the newsletter or a naming report — stored and processed via Brevo (our email provider).
  • Payment information for the naming report or a donation, processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
  • Naming report preferences you choose to share in the order form, used solely to prepare your report.
  • Analytics about page visits, through Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Web Analytics, to understand what's useful.

How we use it

We use your email to send what you asked for (the newsletter or your report and its confirmation). We use your report preferences only to prepare your report. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data with anyone.

Cookies

A first-party cookie remembers the choice you make in the banner on your first visit. Google Analytics sets cookies to tell one visit from another, while Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights work without cookies. Google's advertising cookies are described in the next section. To block analytics or advertising cookies, use your browser's settings or the opt-out links below.

Advertising

Thousands of name meanings stay free to read partly because NameMemoir carries display advertising from Google AdSense. Those ads are picked and counted with the help of Google's cookies, and if personalisation is on for you, the choice can reflect what you have looked at on other websites as well as here. For visitors in the EEA and the UK, Google first asks for consent to use personalised-ad cookies, and that consent can be withdrawn whenever you like.

A name's meaning, origin and popularity figures are researched for their own sake: no advertiser pays to shape them or reviews a page ahead of publication. Some popular name pages also link to personalised wooden name signs on Amazon as an affiliate, as explained in our affiliate disclosure.

Google My Ad Center shows why a given ad reached you and lets you turn personalisation off. For ads from other networks, aboutads.info has a single opt-out page, and Google's explanation of its advertising cookies is in its advertising policy.

Your GDPR rights

If you are in the EU/EEA you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. To exercise any of these, contact us.

Data retention

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, and report-order details only as long as needed to deliver and support your report.
